Joanne O’Neal Hibble of Cleveland passed away Thursday, April 9th, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was 85.
Joanne was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Bernard H. O’Neal and Carrie Jim Newman O’Neal, both of Butts County, Georgia. She lived most of her life in Atlanta and East Point, moving to Cleveland in 1990.
Affectionately known as “Moo Moo” by her two grandsons, she gladly adapted to the rural life of White County after six decades of city living.
Joanne graduated from Girls High in Atlanta. She was a lifelong, active member of the Baptist church, serving faithfully in Sylvan Hills, Dogwood Hills, Helen and Cleveland Baptist Churches. She was passionate about missions and worked tirelessly in GA’s and WMU.
Joanne married Walter L. Hibble in 1949 and was his loving wife for 64 years until his death in 2013.
She is survived by her daughter Debra H. McInvale and husband Morton R. McInvale of Cleveland; son David L. Hibble and wife Patty Bennett Hibble of Jacksonville, Florida; as well as grandsons James M. McInvale and Travis M. Fuller.
Joanne was a true Southern lady: kind, gentle, loving, believing the best of everyone and bringing out the best in every one. Her family was her joy. And she made a positive influence on many lives.
